DOMA: The Origin of Canonical and Traditional Marriage

The very origin of marriage began with the first created couple known as ADAM and EVE.  Furthermore, the holy institution of their marriage was performed by the Creator God Himself.  He was the Father of the Bride (i.e. Eve) who brought her and gave her away to Adam, and God stood beside him as Best Man too.

God saw after creating man, that he needed a like or similar companion.  Genesis 2:18 says that the Divine Trinity said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet (i.e. suitable) for him." And, the Word of God says that even the created animals of every kind could NOT satisfy or meet this requirement (see Genesis 2:20).

So what did the Lord do?  He caused Adam to go into a deep sleep.  So while Adam was sedated so to speak, and in a deep REM sleep, the LORD took a rib from the man and formed what Adam himself identified and referred to as Wo-man (see Genesis 2:21-22).  See even he recognized that she was a vital and necessary PART of him, proclaiming "this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

The divine ordination of marriage act as declared by God surrounding this most sacred and holy institution as listed in the Covenant designed only between male and female unions is GENESIS 2 VERSE 24: Therefore, shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his WIFE: and they shall be one flesh. For it apparent that even in our created and gendered bodies, that the obvious complement of a man is that of the woman's and vice versa.  This is the only natural and normal process by God which allows for procreation and the bringing forth and continuance of children, offspring, and future generations.  And the Word of the Lord says there are NO EXCEPTIONS to this!
